At Thanksgiving Market: Henry's Wreaths

One of the things we love the most about our Thanksgiving and  Holiday Markets is the opportunity to meet new artists and craftspeople. Henry's Wreaths is a great new discovery, and we're happy to welcome Henry and his mom, Heidi, to Cheverly Community Market!

Heidi shares how Henry's Wreaths came into being:
My 12-year-old son and I created pinecone wreaths to sell to raise money for his trip to Africa in June 2012. His grandparents took him and his cousin on the trip, but mandated that he must earn his own spending money. We sold the wreaths at a farmer market last year. Henry has caught the entrepreneurial bug and has continued his wreath-making venture to build up his savings for the holidays.
All pinecones are gathered locally from Montgomery County. We bake them in the oven to melt the sap so that the cones are shiny. Then we wire the cones onto wire frames to make a 24-inch round wreath and add a holiday bow. Finding the cones and baking them are where we spend most of our time. Wreaths are $35 each or 2 for $60.

We hope you'll stop by for a look and consider our craftsmanship for your holiday door!

These are lovely wreaths. We look forward to seeing many of them gracing the doors of Cheverly (and beyond) this holiday season!
